Myth #4: Why would anyone hack exactly us/me?

There are many reasons why a company gets hacked :

  • to create visible damage to a public reputation,
  • to get revenge,
  • to gain internal information

 

Many companies around the world were hacked just to spread a political message.

For individuals, you can be hacked for more or less the same reasons a company gets hacked (see above).

 

You can prevent to be hacked if you improve the security of your accounts. Activate two-factor authentication and make strong passwords.
